Newtown High School's boys' golf team, for the second time this fall, has set a new program record for lowest score in a match. The Nighthawks defeated visiting Bunnell of Stratford 139-213 at Rock Ridge Country Club on October 7. The Nighthawks broke the mark set on August 26 this year, also at Rock Ridge, by one stroke with a 140.

In the latest record-setting performance, Will Lokey carded a 33, Jack Wishneski and Aiden Andreotta both had a 35, and Nate Pickard 36.

The Nighthawks went into Wednesday's South-West Conference Championships looking for their fourth straight championship but settled for a second-place finish behind Weston. NHS had a score of 296 and Weston shot a 293 (read more in the October 23 edition of The Bee). They were ranked No 2 in the state (Division I) behind only Trumbull. Newtown, as a team, and Lokey have been top in the state rankings a couple of times this season.
