For the second time this month, local residents have the opportunity to have confidential documents shredded.

On Saturday, October 17, Friends Of Newtown Seniors (FONS) will host a paper shredding event at the Plaza South location of Newtown Savings Bank, 266 South Main Street. The event will run from 9 am until noon.

Cost is $10 per box, or $5 per box for senior citizens. Documents of all sizes can be handled. FONS is asking that paper clips are not included in any of the boxes.

Volunteers will be on hand to remove boxes from vehicles. Drivers and passengers will be asked to remain in their vehicles. The volunteers will be wearing personal protective equipment.

The special event, a fundraiser for FONS, is sponsored by Newtown Savings Bank.
