To the Editor:

We are writing to express our support and endorsement for the reelection of Chris Smith for Legislative Council from District 3.

We have known Chris for over 20 years here in Newtown and our families are good friends. He is a giving, genuine, and family oriented person. He is level headed and passionate about his duties as a representative from District 3, having already demonstrated 100 percent commitment to Newtown during his first term. He is someone who considers all sides of an argument and looks at all positions before reaching a decision. We will need such an approach if Newtown is to continue to move forward with legislation that benefits the greater good of the town. We need someone who knows how to work with members of the other party in order to get things done .

Having had many conversations with Chris, we know that he feels a “civic duty” to participate in government and “give back” to the community he loves.

Regretfully, we reside outside of District 3, but if we did live there, we would unequivocally recommend reelection of Chris Smith for District 3 Legislative Council.
