To the Editor:

As we approach both Election Day and Veterans Day, we want to recognize two of our state leaders who consistently go out of their way to remember our veterans and neighbors, most especially during this trying time with COVID-19. Both State Representative Mitch Bolinsky and State Senator Tony Hwang have made themselves available to our veterans no matter when they need assistance. From the very beginning of the pandemic, they reached out to see what could be done to help, especially the oldest of our Newtown veterans and neighbors. State Senator Hwang even drove to Newtown to deliver masks at the outset for those most vulnerable to the virus.

Representative Bolinsky has worked tirelessly since the beginning of the pandemic when economic struggles began for those residents who lost their jobs and means of support. We recognize how he put in many hours — he worked well into the night, on a regular basis, to ensure that unemployment benefits and stimulus checks got to the persons who needed help most.

On a personal note, both gentlemen are hardworking, good people, dedicated to our community and our state. As veterans and Newtown residents, we say, “Well done!” to both of them and hope that you will give them the opportunity to serve again with another term of office for us and our neighbors.
