Girls C/D Division

SHINING STARS 3, NIGHTMARE 0:  In a hard-fought match-up the Shining Stars powered to a three goal half-time lead on scores from Jessica Paynter, Elizabeth (Biz) Bowen, and Courtney Bonjour... all fed by a steady stream of set-up passes from Kate Mayer. A Nightmares defense keyed by Kate and Alexandra Hoolehan shut down the Star scoring machine in the second half, however, with Laura and Ellen Reed pressing home repeated attacks on the Shining Star goal. These, in turn, were neatly blunted by the steady hands and swift reactions of Sarah Gutbrod in the Shooting Star net, leaving the final score at 3-0.

 

Boys E Division

THUNDERBIRDS 4, WOLFPACK 0: Pat Daly had a hat trick to lead the T-birds to the win. Chris Salvatore also scored while Robby Walrath and Nick Ciarelli anchored the midfield play. For the Wolfpack, Henry Sims led the offense whole Mubarag Von Schleusinger and Jonathan Zigman led the defense.

DOGNABBERS 3, FLASH 0: Matt Boland scored a pair of goals and Ethan Canfield added one to propel the ‘Nabbers to the win. Charlie Lobosco, Michael Iorfino and Mickey Fay played well in the midfield. For the Flash, Alex Hamilton was solid in goal. Kurt Nacewicz, Alex Buetha, Alan Schwartz and Matt Yakush had good games.

RAPTORS 3, TORNADOES 1: Timmy Arnone, Tyler Davenport, and Michael Shevlin played a great defensive game for the Raptors while the three goals were all scored by Jeffrey DiNicola, Evan Kennedy and Chris McCann. For the Tornadoes, Shane Casey and Mike Badisch played a good game and Steven Musco scored their goal.

SCORPIONS 4, PYTHONS 1: Alistair Hayden, Ryan Hudock, Justin Carotti and Will Paskey all scored to lead the Pythons to the victory. Zachary Gabarel and Matthew Norris played well. For the Pythons, Craig Schrekenghaust scored in the final minutes of the game. Ian Cooper was solid in goal.

Boys E/Girls E Division

TIGERSHARKS 4, HYPER YANKEES 0: Bobby Davenport scored a pair of goals to lead the ‘Sharks to the win. Blake Barreto and Greg Hill each scored goals. Rob Defilippe displayed excellent ball control. For the Yankees, Brianna Barry and Katy Tavella led the offense while Lucy Remitz made some strong second-half saves.

Girls E Division

TIMBERWOLVES 3, FLYING PIGS 0: Sarah Greenfield, Jennifer Iassogna and Colleen Thornberg all scored to lead the T-Wolves past the Pigs. Mallory Webb and Taylor Johns played well. For the Pigs, Nicole Alberico, Jennifer Brill and Molly Murtha all had outstanding games.

HURRICANES 4, TIGERS 1: Lauren Hebert, Laura Konkos, Megan Hansen and Sammie Ciaccia all had one goal to lead the Hurricanes to the win. June Respasi scored for the Tigers, who also got good games from Sarah Shannon and Jessica Lively.

HURRICANES 1, FLYING PIGS 0: Sammie Ciaccia scored one goal while Erica Federman, Melissa Fitzsimmons and Mary Kate Hubbard had solid games to lead the Hurricanes to the win. For the Pigs, Lee Proctor, Jennifer Brill, Allison Jagoe and Sydney Russell played well.

 

Girls F Division

TIMBERWOLVES 1, EAGLES 0: Emily Weber’s fourth-quarter goal off an assist from Haley Keane proved to be the difference. Ellen Tabler and Becky Lipnick both had great all-around games for the T-Wolves. For the Eagles, Emily DeMarco and Jenna Lex were strong on defense as Jenna Himmelfarb and Alex Israel powered the offense.

TORNADOES 4, DOLPHINS 0: Molly Curry and Kate Bowen each scored two goals to lead the Tornadoes past the Dolphins. Jillian Spies and Cassie David sparked the shutout win on defense. For the ‘Fins, Paige Woodhouse, Lyndsey Burns, Lindsay Friedman and Maura McDade all played well.

MEAN MACHINE 2, HURRICANES 0: Marnie Thompson and Kristine Zadrovitz scored goals to lead the Mean Machine to the win. Jordyn Good and Ava Rojo excelled in a tight defensive battle. For the Hurricanes, Kelsey DeCesare, Genevieve Bleidner, Laura Rice and Meegan Kelly fought hard.

PUFFINS 4, TIGERS 1: Christine Beck scored two goals and Ashley Leifels and Adelle Cerreta scored solo goals to lead the Puffins to a come-from-behind win.  Emma Canfield had a pair of assists. For the Tigers, Natalie Villa scored the lone goal while Katie O’Dell, Stephanie Sanchez, and Kristen Stoller all played well.

Boys F Division

HURRICANES 3, EAGLES 2: Andrew Meisel scored a pair of goals with assists from Josh Adams. Ricky Gallucci also scored and Bill Gardner was solid in goal. For the Eagles, Trevor Todd and Brendan Deveney each scored.

WILDCATS 5, LASERS 1: Michael Caganello and Brian Reszoly each scored a pair of goals to lead the Wildcats past the Lasers. Stephen Gardener added a solo. Ian McEmber and Tyler Reszoly also played well. For the Lasers, Danny Greenwood scored the goal while Adam Buccino and Alex Cron had solid games.

SCORPIONS 1, ROCKETS 1: Tyler Edwards scored on assist from Ethan Carotti for the Scorpions while Josh Baron scored on an assist from Chris Marks for the Rockets to lead to the 1-1 tie. For the Scorpions, Bryan Wicki, Shane Wurtz and Ben Kaye also played well. For the Rockets, Patrick Say, Taylor Webb and Anthony Corletto had good games.

ROADRUNNERS 1, SALTY PUPS 0: Drew Woods scored the goal that lifted the Roadrunners to the win. Michael Notaro, Ian Mason, Kevin Leibold and Kyle Kimball all provided excellent defense. For the Pups, Jordan Mathurin, Ben Federman and Joey Christiano had good games.

Girls U10 Travel

NAVIGATORS 3, DANBURY 1: After a miscue gave Danbury an early goal in the first half, striker Katie Kirrane’s scoring prowess gave Newtown a 2-1 lead. Dana Schunter, Bethany Morin and Julie Landin applied offensive pressure for most of the game. Landin scored late in the second half. Caroline Kraich and Claire Ober led the defense in front of goaltender Ashley Braun. It was the third win in a row for the ‘Gators.

Boys U10 Travel

VIPERS 1, SOUTHBURY 0: Kevin Troy scored off a corner kick to lead the Vipers past Southbury. Paul Andras powered the offense and helped set up thatc orner kick. Max Hoagland and Alex Bowen both sparked the action with aggressive second-half performances while Gregg Rodden and Ryan Wilson anchored the defense.

AFTERSHOCK 1, SOUTHBURY 1: Brendan Martin scored unassisted to lift the ‘Shock into a tie with Southbury. Ryan Drummond and Eddie Gaddis powered the defense as Colin Babbage and Sean Ryan led the offense.

Girls U12

ROCKETS 6, TERRYVILLE 0: Goal time was shared by Tara Gaston and Tori Thomas in the shut-out. Siobhan Cooper scored four goals, Mary Anders and Kayla Mesko had one goal apiece. Alex Konneker, Mary Grace Ober and Christie Zingoni energized the offense. Jill Tanner never let up in the midfield. Erin Clark, Emily Fields and Casey Frobey kept the defense solid.

Girls U13 Travel

BROOKFIELD 2, KNOCKOUTS 0: Despite several scoring opportunities in the second half, the Knockouts came out on the losing side. Strong midfield play and shooting came from Amy Doyle, Karoline Engel and Kristen Davis, while Stacy Shpunt, Kate Stickles and Quincey Blanchard shut down the Brookfield attack for most of the game.

 

Girls U14 Travel

GUILFORD 3, NIGHTMARE 0: The Nightmare fell in their final league contest. Kelly Collier, Becky Corrigan and Brittany Meier played well.

NIGHTMARE 1, EASTERN FC 1: Chelsea Morin scored the lone goal. Kelley Haines was strong at sweeper while Becky Corrigan, April Scheuerell and Brittany Meier played well at midfield. Kristi Johnston had another excellent game at marking back.

OAKWOOD 6, NIGHTMARE 3: In a friendly match, the Nightmare fell to Oakwood despite a two-goal performance by Alex Helfer. Chelsea Morin also scored. Carrie Lipnick assisted on both of the goals by Helfer. Kaitlyn Murphy played well at stopper as Erin O’Dell had a strong game on defense.

Boys U14 Premier

WORLD CLASS SOCCER 1, STRIKERS 0: A physical and fast-paced game went to WCS, the current holder of the Connecticut Open Cup. WCS had only allowed one goal all season long and nearly was beaten by Marcus Tracy, who snuck a ball past the goalie at the edge of the 18-yard box. But the WCS sweeper managed to clear before the ball crossed the end line. Mike Bonsignore and Jeff Brunaska were strong on defense while Brian Smith and Ryan Taplin controlled the midfield. Ryan Keogler had a good game at stopper. Sean Rawson and Matthew McFadden both played well on the outside, but the Strikers could not beat the goalie.
