Girls U13

Flash 2, New Canaan 1 – Lindsay Jossick scored a pair of goals with the assistance of Stephanie Roman as the Flash nipped New Canaan.Goalkeeper Emily Brisson was at her best, making a spectacular diving save to hold on to the lead. Katie Shirley, Julia Trudell, Bianca Solano and Jenna Hindes put up an effective barrier in defense. Midfielder Abby Blakeman was a constant challenge for the New Canaan offense.

Boys U13

Cobras 5, Ridgefield 0 – Kieran Lardner had two goals and Noah Sock added one off an assist from Pieter Martino to lead the Cobras past Ridgefield. Colin Moller set-up Ian Solaski for an exciting header and Stephen Conway hooked one in from the far left for the rest of the scoring. The defense registered its fifth shut-out of the season. Sean Elliott and Robert Willis shared keeper duty, while Matt Rahtelli, Drew Sullivan and Alec Lockhart created the wall upfront.

Girls U12

Jaguars 2, Norwalk 0 – After a scoreless first half on a sloppy field, the Jaguars applied tremendous pressure on the Norwalk goal and scored two goals within the first 15 minutes of the second half enroute to the win. Tess Murray broke free, made a great run, and punched in the Jaguars’ first goal. Shortly thereafter, Taylor Brady added the insurance goal by corralling a loose ball just outside the box and sending a curling shot between several defenders that found the back corner of the goal. Danielle Shine recorded the shutout in goal. Abi Kuligowski, Serena Kiss, and Taylor Zingaro were stellar all game.

Girls U11

Lightning 2, Westport 1 (State Cup) – In an exciting and intense game on a wet field, the Lightning went to an overtime penalty kick shootout to beat Westport 2-1 in the U11 girls State Cup semifinal. Jessica Keller scored the Lightning’s only goal during regulation play as she netted a perfect shot on a free kick. After Westport tied the game late in the first half, the two well-matched teams battled scoreless through the second half and two 10-minute overtimes. Newtown then won the penalty kick shootout, 2-0, with Keller and Kailee Dunnigan scoring one apiece. Amy Martinelli and Siena Cicarelli were great in goal, with Martinelli making several excellent saves in the first half and Cicarelli standing tough against tremendous pressure to block two Westport penalty kicks during the OT shootout. Meaghan Brophy was stellar on defense. The U11 girls now face off against Avon in the State Cup finals, to be held on November 3, at 11 am, at Newington High School.

Boys U11

Darien 4, White Lightning 1 – Luca Imbimbo scored off a scramble in front of the net for the lone Newtown goal in a loss to Darien. Kevin Droniak played great in midfield while Dillon Wikramnayake and Nathyn Horvath were great on defense. Kevin Ovendorf had many saves.

Girls U10

Greenwich 2, Comets 1 – Jumping to a quick lead off a penalty kick by Kelsey Muniz, the Comets held the advantage well into the second half before Greenwich rallied to the win. Tenacious midfield play of Mikayla Kuligowski and Alana Murray kept the pressure on while the consistent stopper, Madeline Sieber, and hustling defenders Sarah Lyon and Emily Charash, shut down the Greenwich attack. Kimberly Brello kept them scoreless in the first half while Alyssa Ruefenacht made several incredible saves in the second.

IN-HOUSE

Boys U14

AT&T 7, Vipers 2 – Gavin Scallon and Mergin Bajraliu scored three goals apiece and William Carr added a goal to lead AT&T to victory. Zach Waller also played a great game at midfield. For the Vipers, David Csordas and Luke Shearin scored the goals while Chris Zakur and Nathan Norwich played strong games in the midfield. Ryan LeMay had a strong game on offense and Mac Morlock played great in goal and at midfield.

Boys U8

Team (#7) 2, Blue Sharks 0 – Michael Liberante and Connery Mayer scored the goals that lifted Team #7 to the win. Riley Burns did a great job of protecting the goal. For Blue Sharks, Christian Adam played great in all positions while Andrew Lally and Jack Hanley played aggressive offense.
