Coping With Alzheimer’s In The Workplace

CROMWELL — The Connecticut Society for Human Resource Management State Council (CTSHRM) is holding a half-day conference titled “Alzheimer’s In the Workplace” on November 8, from 8 am to 12:30 pm, at the Crowne Plaza Hotel and Resort.

CTSHRM’s vision is to advance the value of human resource management and the knowledge and capabilities of its chapters and members by providing exemplary leadership, education, and timely resources.

The conference will feature keynote speaker Kristen Cusato, Southwest Regional Director of the CT Chapter of the Alzheimer’s Association and former WTNH News 8 Good Morning Connecticut co-anchor, who will speak about her personal and professional experiences in dealing with dementia.

Two workshops — Alzheimer’s: A Primer For the Workplace and Workplace Perspectives on Alzheimer’s — will also be featured.

“This conference will begin to address both the business and work-life challenges that Alzheimer’s disease has created for both employer and employee” said Janine Dunn, SPHR, CTSHRM immediate past state director. “Recognizing that there has been significant workplace impact because of the disease, the CTSHRM has designed a conference that will increase insight into the professional and personal perspectives of the disease and, we hope, offer solutions for the business practitioner, the employer, and the employee who have experienced this insidious and agonizing disease.”
