Horse Guard Trail Ride

Join a trial ride through the Fairfield Hills Campus trails and meadows to benefit the non-profit Second Company Governor’s Horse Guard (2GHG) on Saturday, November 3. Troopers from the 2GHG will host the ride along fields and through wooded areas and over a stream crossing. Riders will complete an eight-mile trail ride at their own pace.

Participants will receive pledge sheet to raise funds that go directly to the Friends of 2GHG for the care and support 2GHG horses. Riders under the age of 18 must have a release form signed by a parent or guardian and all riders are asked to wear safety helmets. Proof of current Coggins and Rabies vaccinations must be provided for each horse.

For more than 200 years, 2GHG has been serving Connecticut residents and is one of the oldest cavalry units in existence. Horse Guard troopers participate in ceremonial events such as parades, funerals, and honor guards at the order of the governor or the State Military Department.

Registration forms are available at the 2GHG, or may be downloaded from TheHorseGuard.org. For more information, including start times, or to receive registration by mail, call 203-426-9046. The horse guard is located at 4 Wildlife Drive, near Reed Intermediate School off Wasserman Way.
