Ode To The Blue Colony Diner

To the Editor

The morn after Sandy, nary a light to behold

Red stop signs at intersections to caution the bold

All traffic to the hub, for me the Northeast

With hopes to see lights, that beckon a feast.

All’s dark in town center, head towards I-84

Where there are many parked cars, trucks and more.

There are lights from the windows, line up for a wait

For the hungry, now satisfied crowds to dissipate.

Inside the packed lobby, our imaginations anticipating

The sweet aroma of food, hunger soon satiating.

People sharing the rows and cellphones with a smile

97 percent of homes without power, this will be for a while.

Finally seated with menu, promise of hunger assuaged

Staff polite and efficient, tasks easily managed.

Kudos Blue Colony, the only game in town,

Graciously filling this need, you’ll ever be renowned.
