To the Editor:

Tuesday November 7th is your chance to have our voices heard. I’m sure you have all heard the phrase “voting has consequences.” That’s why I am requesting you to consider this phrase seriously and then exercise your right as citizens to vote.

Some of the candidates will tell you this is a local election and national politics do not come into play. In a perfect world I do wish this was the scenario, however reality in my opinion, this is simply not the case. I have said throughout this entire cycle that Newtown is at a crossroads, is Newtown coming to an end … absolutely not, however regarding the direction moving forward there is a stark difference in ideology between the candidates.

That being said there are many wonderful candidates on both sides of the spectrum, today I want to highlight two Republicans sharing the ticket with me for the Legislative Council, District 1. Jim Landy and Derek Pisani, both whom are running for Legislative Council D1, have stood out to me.

Jim and myself are both parents of young sons here at HOM and Jim has been working diligently on the FFH commission as of recent. Derek Pisani and his wife Dominica I have had the pleasure of knowing through my good friend and State Legislator, Mitch Bolinsky. More recently, Derek has been sitting on LC with me as a D1 representative, prior he was a member of the Sustainable Energy Commission.

Simply put, Derek Pisani and Jim Landy are good folk, solid conservative gentlemen whom I trust will always put Newtown’s needs and responsible growth first. Both of these men will have my vote on November 7th, along with all the Republican Candidates on Row B.
