To the Editor:

My name is Jim Landy and I am running for a seat on our Legislative Council, and it will be my honor to represent District 1. I grew up in Yonkers, New York, and moved to Connecticut after meeting the love of my life, my wife Bridget. Our family grew with our wonderful son, Liam, dog Angus, cat Penny, and now our new pup, Gracie. My wife, son, and I enjoy Newtown, the walks in Fairfield Hills, the NYA, Halloween and Christmas time on Main Street, and our great shops. In 2019 we moved here for the better school options and found so much more. Newtown became our home; our neighbors became great friends where we all help each other. This was especially the case during Covid. The sense of community shared among our neighbors is truly outstanding.

I take great pride in our town, and in 2021 I joined the board of the Fairfield Hills Authority. I worked to get new businesses into Fairfield Hills and promote better usage of such a great resource. I am a Certified Fraud Examiner (CFE), and my training is to examine and analyze financial data, and conduct investigations. My background is rooted in finance, graduating Manhattan College with a Bachelor of Science degree in Finance and working in compliance roles for over 28 years. I have designed compliance procedures for insurance companies, conducted complex investigations, as well as reviewed and managed budgets.

As your District 1 Legislative Council member, I will use my unique talents to the betterment of Newtown. I will analyze efficient and effective solutions to the ever-growing traffic concerns and tax burdens while seeking opportunities for new businesses in existing vacant spaces. I am grateful for the home Newtown has become for my family. If elected, it will be my honor to serve Newtown on the Legislative Council representing District 1.

Thank you for your support and your vote!

Respectfully,

Jim Landy
