Newtown’s Alyssa Wright went to Prague to compete in the World Tap Championships October 22-28. Her team’s adult formation, The Waiting Room, placed second in world — an impressive feat taking home the silver medal in competition with 16 formations. She also competed in an adult small group, Beat It, which placed 15th out of 34.

Wright danced with The American Dance Collaborative Team under the direction of Jillian McNamara. She auditioned for the team in Nov 2023 and began rehearsals in February. Rehearsals took place at Seven Stars School of Performing Arts in Brewster, N.Y. Video submissions of routines were submitted to the International Dance Organization and needed to be accepted to compete in Prague at the World Tap Championships.

A junior at Immaculate High School in Danbury, Wright is part of the National English Honor Society, National Science Honor Society, and has received Presidential Honors for her academic successes. She also plays volleyball and tennis for Immaculate.
