Counseling Center Program

Reaches A Milestone

Connecticut Counseling Centers, Inc, an accredited nonprofit, outpatient substance abuse and mental health services provider, has announced the birth of the 400th healthy baby in its Pregnant Addicts Care Program.

As the rest of the country is celebrating the birth of its 300 millionth citizen, Connecticut Counseling Centers, Inc’s Executive Director Richard Bilangi stated, “We take great pride and share the joy of both mom and baby in achieving this landmark.”

Connecticut Counseling Centers, Inc operates three facilities — in Norwalk, Waterbury, and Danbury — and began its Pregnant Addicts Care Program in 1994.

“This year, we have reached an all-time high in the number of patients now served through this program. Between July 1, 2005, and June 30, 2006, our Pregnant Addicts Care Program census jumped by 30 percent,” Mr Bilangi said. “Typically, all patients are opioid addicted women, who realize that their addiction may prove fatal for the babies they carry.”

Connecticut Counseling Centers program staff provides patients with obstetrical support, substance abuse and mental health counseling, nutrition education, parenting skills, and postpartum care.

The program receives no direct funding. As a safety net to the communities served by Connecticut Counseling Centers, Inc, these services are entirely underwritten by private donations.
