To the Editor:

Serving on the Legislative Council and representing the town where I grew up has been an honor and a privilege, so it is with special thanks that I extend my sincere appreciation to all the voters who have put their trust in me to represent them and supported me for a fourth term.

I have a deep respect for anyone who steps forward and offers their name for the ballot. It is not easy to open yourself up like that, especially for a volunteer position. A range of voices and ample voter choice are essential to a representative government. Thank you to all the candidates for your willingness to give your talents and your time to our community. Congratulations to all who were successful on Tuesday.

It will be another difficult term, as there are ever-present challenges and more on the horizon that will impact Newtown, including another state budget deficit. I look forward to working will all officials, newly elected and reelected, as we continue to work together to shepherd our community forward.
