Julius Black

Julius “Jay” Black, of Newtown, entered into eternal rest on November 2, 2022. He was born in Portsmouth Naval Hospital, Portsmouth, Va.

He moved to Connecticut with his family in 1964 and has been a lifelong resident since returning from service in the United States Marine Corps and the United States Army. Upon returning, he worked at Harvey Hubbell and Curtis Packaging until retirement.

He is predeceased by his parents, Molly Black Galloway and William J. Black, and two brothers, Jonathon Black and Peter Black.

He is survived by brothers William Black of Newtown, Michael Black of Fairfield, and Jeffery Black of Newtown; and sisters Julie Miller of Raymond, Miss., and Jana Emmerthal of Sandy Hook. There are also several nieces and nephews and three grand-nephews.

In lieu of flowers, Jay requested donations to Wounded Warrior Project, woundedwarriorproject.org/donate, or Tunnel to Towers Foundation, t2t.org/donate.

Honan Funeral Home, 58 Main Street, Newtown is serving the family.
