With deep feelings of sorrow, we say goodbye to our dearly loved mother, grandmother, and nanna.

Frances Louise (Freer) Dubovos, age 101, passed away on November 7, 2019, at Newtown Rehabilitation and Health Care Center. She was born in Stamford, Conn., on August 31, 1918, where she was raised by her parents, John Hakes and Selma Louise Freer. Her grandparents are John Alfred Freer and Frances Doremus Hakes, and Johann Karl Petzolt and Amelia Henrietta Dehmel.

Louise married Mike John Dubovos (born March 28, 1912, in Northbridge, Mass.; died March 25, 1977, in Stamford, Conn.) on January 13, 1947, in Danbury, Conn.

She was predeceased by her siblings, Dorothy Dehmel Conklin and John Alfred Freer.

She was always at the top of her class, graduating from Stamford High School in 1936. Louise worked for Prudential Insurance in Stamford, Conn. In retirement, with her church buddies, she traveled to many countries, enjoying each one more.

Her life was devoted to her church and the way of the Lord. She attended the Turn-of-River Presbyterian Church in Stamford, Conn., where she was one of the signers of the original founding charter. She was always gracious and kind and never said a bad word about anyone.

She had a great love of animals, always having at least one cat. She enjoyed sitting down with a good book and a game of pinochle.

She moved to Newtown, Conn., in 1978 with her daughter, Patricia, and son-in-law, Jeffrey Rockwell. She continued an active life attending Almost Family Adult Day Care, where she enjoyed her friends, outings, and especially bingo.

She leaves behind her son, Thomas Michael Dubovos, living in Greeley, Colo.; her daughter, Patricia Louise, and beloved son-in-law, Jeffrey Rockwell, living in Cape Coral, Fla. She is the cherished grandmother of Scott Edward Rockwell of Cape Coral, Fla.; Jennifer Mae and Sean Egan of Simsbury, Conn.; Amy Louise Rockwell of Newtown, Conn.; Barbara and Jeff Stockman of Centennial, Colo.; and James and Tracy Dubovos of Loveland, Colo. She was the great-grandmother of Megan Mae and Colleen Patricia Egan.; Jacob Duane, Evan Joseph, and Abigail Louise Rooney; Justin John and Christopher John Stockman; and Vincent James, Emma Louise, and Isabel Lynn Dubovos.

The family wishes to thank the very caring staff at both Newtown Rehabilitation and Health Care Center and Athena Hospice care.

She lived a very good life and blessed many!

We are ever-grateful having her for our mom, grandmother, and nanna; she will live in our hearts forever.

A graveside service to be held at Fairfield Memorial Park in Stamford at 11 am on Tuesday, November 12, 2019.
