REVALUATION 2022In accordance with ConnecticutGeneral Statutes, the Town of Newtown has completed a Revaluation ofall real property for the October 1, 2022 Grand List. Assessmentnotices have been mailed directly from Vision Government Solutions,Inc., and will show your old and new assessment for your property.Your assessment is based on 70% of market value. Please note thatany parcel having a PA490 classification for farm or forest has beenvalued using the revised state recommended values. Other exemptionsto assessments (For example: Veteran's exemptions) are not shown aspart of this notice, but will be applied to the final assessments.Do not apply the current mill rate to your new assessment, as indoing so will result in an inaccurate calculation. The new mill ratewill be determined by the Town in the spring of 2023 after thebudget vote.New assessments will beavailable for review on the Vision Government Solutions, Inc.website: www.vgsi.com. This site will allow inquiry access to theAssessor's database, including value summary and property data. Ifyou agree with your new assessment, then no action is necessary onyour part. If you feel after you review both your assessment andyour property card that there may be an issue with the market valueor clerical error, please follow the information on the assessmentnotice to schedule an informal hearing with the revaluation company,Vision Government Solutions, Inc.

Please do not call theAssessor's Office to schedule appointments.If you wish to appeal yourassessment after the Vision informal hearing process is complete,you must file a written appeal to the Board of Assessment Appeals.Applications will be available online at www.newtown-ct.gov or inthe Assessor's office from February 1, 2023 to February 20, 2023.
