The Fireside Inn 78, Dr Cayer Chiropractic 73: Jeff White poured in 35 points and Adam Freyler and Dave Waite each added 15 to lead the Fireside Inn. For Cayer Chiropractive, Steve Bigham scored 40 points to keep his squad close. Bill Schiebe added 11 and Paul Carpenter and Scott Davidow each added 10.Â Â

The Color Center 82, The Inn at Newtown 58: Greg Gallagher scored 22 points, Chris Nawrocki had 19, and Pete Antonopolis and Mark Svanda each added 14 to lead the undefeated Color Center. Dan OâHandley tossed in 19 for The Inn at Newtown.

Langport Tile 62, My Place Restaurant 57: Jason Arnauckas scored 28 points and Kevin Carolan added 15 to lead Langport Tile to its first win. Dave Kingsley tossed in 23 points for My Place Restaurant.

World of Wine & Spirits 70, Newtown Color Center 42: Ruth Rowe scored a game-high 22 points and Tracy Pelella added 20 as World of Wines romped. Kathy Moore scored 16 points to lead Newtown Color Center.

JF Walsh Logging & Mulching 70, Gleason Real Estate 54: Karen Lobaz erupted for 30 points and Eileen Frateroli threw in another 26 as JF Walsh won easily. Lisa Checkley scored 26 points for Gleason Real Estate.

Gleason Real Estate 56, Newtown Color Center 39: Jackie Petersen scored 19 points to lead Gleason and Karen Katrinak and Mary Dent added 12 and 11 points, respectively. For Newtown Color Center, the high scored was Kathy Moore with 14 points. Bonnie Soucy added 10 points.

World of Wine & Spirits 44, Italian Pavilion 35: Ruth Rowe scored 18 points and Tracy Palella added 12 to power World of Wine & Spirits. Italian Pavilionâs Lisa Pollard scored 16 points and Sharon McCarthy added eight.

I am sorry but $88.8 million dollars to educate 4030 kids is way out of line! That's over $22k per kid, used to be $8k per kid, the kids aren't getting any smarter, the administration eats all the cost. Time to cut the budget by 20% and also cut the $225k salary of the superintendent and $193k of the superintendent assistant ! You can get a lot of teachers for $400k wasted for 2 overpaid positions. Common sense should tell you that spending $2.5 million per every week for population less than 30k people is just way too high! Also voting should be done by mail, enough with these nonsensical referendums where barely 16% of voters show up. 51% voters approval should be MANDATED!

Encouraging. The town budget squeaks by but the school budget got dinged. Let the games begin.

Who have you asked that didn't know where to cut? Its easy. Ideally, you would start with section 100 of the budget but the union prevents that. So I say you turn to page 18, put it on your dart board, and start reducing the head count. It's all you can do when the union controls the budget.

Vote Yes On April 23

The people have spoken, time to sharpen your pencils. If we look at the town budget for guidance the BOE should cut the budget from 4.4% to 2.75% I find the voting results very interesting ... We have approximately 4,030 students in our town, with a published 12:1 ratio which means we have 335 teachers. I would love to know the actual number if someone knows. If we account for their spouses that gets us very close to the number of people who voted yes for the budget and wished it would be higher (729).
