Winter Guard Receives Donation

The Newtown High School Winter Guard received a generous donation Thursday night. Richard Locke left a $1,000 donation to the club.

Brenda Locke, Mr Locke’s wife, presented Michael Finn, treasurer of the Newtown High School Band Parents’ Association, a donation for $1,000 in memory of her late husband.

Before his death, Mr Locke wanted to donate money to the Newtown High School Winter Guard. Due to his illness before his death, he was unable to attend many of the competitions, according to Mrs Locke. He looked forward to hearing the results of the competitions from his daughter, Eryca, when she got home.

The Winter Guard will host a competition at Newtown High School at the end of January 2001. The competition will be named in Mr Locke’s memory.
