To the Editor:

Three cheers and a big thank you to the Newtown Cultural Arts Commission for a delightfully creative, and hugely successful event – the 75th anniversary showing of Gone with the Wind and the Red Carpet Event on Sunday November 30th at Edmond Town Hall.

The event began with a Red Carpet walk  where patrons were invited to wear their Oscar best to strut the red carpet before the show, or dress like a star from 1939.  Donna Mangiafico was fantastic in her recreation of the famous “curtain dress” from the Carol Burnett skit on Gone with the Wind, with the dapper Rhett Butler at her side.

At intermission, a surprise full buffet was provided and at the close, hand painted cookies resembling each of Scarlett’s magnificent dresses were handed out to patrons.  No detail was left undone.  Thank you so much to Event Coordinator Jennifer Rogers and all those who so generously sponsored this event and provided the delicious food.
