Openings Available For Christmas

Bird Count

SOUTHBURY — This year the Bent of the River staff will again join Western Connecticut Bird Club as they conduct the Christmas Bird Count. Volunteers are encouraged to join the clubs for a fun day of winter birding.

The staff from the Bent of the River will be hosting a small portion of this year’s count at the center in Southbury. Birders, beginners or experts, families or individuals, are invited to join staff members for a morning of birding and fun on Saturday, December 18. Bring binoculars, and dress appropriately for outdoor weather.

There will be an early morning session starting at 7 am, and a later session at 10 am. Each session will be followed by a warm-up and wrap-up in the barn with a cup of hot cocoa.

Call Hunter Brawley at  264-5098 to register. Bent of the River Center is at 185 East Flat Hill Road, off Route 172.
