Police report that they saw motorist Ashley Tillson, 28, of Monroe driving southward near 3 South Main Street about 10:45 am November 29, while talking on a handheld cellphone, so they stopped Tillson to investigate.

Police said they charged Tillson with illegal use of a handheld cellphone while driving, with driving with a suspended license, and with failure to carry an automotive insurance identification card.

Police released Tillson on $100 bail for a December 15 appearance in Danbury Superior Court.

Illegal Dumping

On or about November 22, someone dumped a pile of demolition debris, possibly created by a bathroom remodeling project, on Turkey Hill Road across from the town garage, police report.

Police are investigating the case of illegal dumping and ask anyone with information on the matter to contact them at 203-426-5841.

Vehicular Violations

Police said they observed motorist Angel Predzimirski, 21, of Patterson, N.Y., near 63 South Main Street at about 9 am on November 25 with a disabled motor vehicle that was partially blocking the southbound travel lane, so they investigated.

Police said they charged Predzimirski with driving with a suspended license and with driving with a suspended vehicle registration.

After posting $100 bail, Predzimirski was released for a December 10 court appearance, according to police.

Taunton Hill Road

Motorist John Chimielewski, 49, of Waterbury was driving a 2000 Saab 9-3 sedan southward on wet pavement near 91 Taunton Hill Road about 7:17 am November 24, when while driving on a curve, the Saab slid and then struck a stone wall, police report.

According to police, Chimielewski told them that he was attempting to avoid colliding with a deer when the accident occurred. Chimielewski requested that an ambulance evaluate him at the accident scene, police said.

Police said they issued the motorist a written warning for traveling too fast for conditions.

Moving Violations

Police report they spotted motorist Bejadin Imeroski, 47, of 6 Riverside Road driving a 2004 Ford pickup northward on South Main Street, which then made two turns without signaling those turns at about 7:30 pm November 22, so they stopped the truck on Queen Street to investigate.

Police said they charged Imeroski with making a restricted turn and with driving with a suspended license. Imeroski was released on a written promise to appear December 1 in Danbury Superior Court.

Two Men Charged

Police report they arrested two men in connection with an incident that occurred about 12:15 am November 26 at Hot Shots Grille, Restaurant, and Tap Room at 130 Mt Pleasant Road.

Police said that Timothy Fay, 30, of 15 Dayton Street was intoxicated inside the bar and became an annoyance there, resulting in the bar’s staff asking him to leave the premises. Police said that Fay caused a disturbance as he was being escorted out from the bar by staff members.

Police said they went to the bar to investigate, adding that Jason Rogers, 32, of Danbury interfered with their investigation. Rogers ignored verbal orders to stop interfering with them, police said.

Police said they arrested Fay on a charge of disorderly conduct, later releasing him on $100 bail for a December 10 court appearance.

Police arrested Rogers on a charge of interfering with police, also releasing him on $100 bail for a December 10 court appearance.

Botsford Hill Road

A two-vehicle accident occurred near 32 Botsford Hill Road about 9:30 am November 28, police said.

Motorist Stephen Szalay, 42, of Monroe, who was driving a 1994 Ford F-250 pickup truck, was heading northward there, as motorist Helen Harrison, 43, of Danbury, who was driving a 2009 Mercedes-Benz ML-350 SUV, was heading southward, according to police.

Police said Szalay told them he fell asleep at the wheel and then entered the opposite lane. Police said Harrison told them she swerved to avoid a collision. But the two vehicles collided.

Szalay was transported to the hospital by ambulance, police report. The accident remains under investigation.

DUI Arrest

Police report that they stopped southbound motorist Donald E. Bauch, Jr, 52, of 18 Paugussett Road about 12:39 am on November 26 for crossing over South Main Street’s center line multiple times in the vicinity of Mile Hill Road.

After investigating, police said they charged Bauch with driving under the influence and with failure to drive to the right.

Police released Bauch on $100 bail for a December 11 court appearance.

Three Charges

Police report that they stopped motorist Antonio Molina, Jr, 31, of Bridgeport for driving on Church Hill Road with an inoperable headlamp at about 8 pm November 25.

After an investigation, police charged Molina with driving with a defective headlamp, driving with a suspended vehicle registration, and with failure to renew a vehicle registration.

Police released Molina on $100 bail for a December 9 court appearance.

Waterbury Man

About 4:52 pm on November 25, police report they stopped motorist Michael McKulsky, 33, of Waterbury for driving with a defective headlamp on Church Hill Road, near Walnut Tree Hill Road.

After an investigation, police charged McKulsky with driving with a defective headlamp and with driving with a suspended license.

Police released McKulsky on a written promise to appear in court on December 9.

Multiple Charges

At about 5:13 am November 26, police said they spotted an unoccupied motor vehicle on Riverside Road, across from its intersection with Narragansett Trail. That unspecified vehicle had front-end damage and its airbags had deployed, police said.

Evidence at the scene indicated that the vehicle had traveled down Narragansett Trail and hit a stop sign on that street at its intersection with Riverside Road, after which the vehicle rolled across Riverside Road, police said.

Following an investigation into the incident, police charged motorist David Duffield, 23, of Oxford with evading responsibility, failure to obey a stop sign, making a restricted turn, and violating the town’s wintertime vehicle parking ordinance.

Police report they released Duffield on $100 bail for a December 10 court appearance.

Swamp Road DUI

Police report that motorist Edward Clark, 40, of 13 Avalon Way was driving a 2001 Mazda sedan eastward on Swamp Road about 12:30 am November 26, when he lost control of the auto while on a curve, went off the right side of the road, struck a tree and then collided with a guy wire that was stabilizing a utility pole.

After investigating, police charged Clark with driving under the influence and with traveling too fast for conditions.

After processing, police released Clark on $300 bail for a December 9 court appearance.

South Main Street

Motorist Steven Treschitta, 20, of Monroe was driving a 2003 Volkswagen Passat sedan southward on South Main Street, near its intersection with Cold Spring Road, at about 3 am November 29, when while negotiating a curve in the road, the vehicle went off the right road shoulder, struck a curb and then hit a utility pole, police report.

Ambulance volunteers transported Treschitta to St Vincent’s Hospital in Bridgeport for treatment of injuries, police said. Treschitta received an infraction for making a restricted turn, according to police.

Poverty Hollow

Police report a one-vehicle accident on Poverty Hollow Road, near its intersection with Morris Road, about 1:40 am November 29.

Police said motorist George Herring, 49, of 33 Brookwood Drive was driving a 2004 Nissan van northward on Poverty Hollow Road, when the vehicle veered off the roadway and struck a tree. Police said that Herring told them that he had fallen sleep before the collision occurred.

Herring was not injured, police said. Police charged him with making a restricted turn and with evading responsibility. Police said the charge of evading responsibility stems from Herring not reporting to them that the accident had occurred.

Police released Herring on a written promise to appear in court on December 11.

Hawleyville Accident

Motorist Madeline Cobb-Wright, 44, of 3 Paugussett Road was driving a 2008 Honda Odyssey minivan southward on Hawleyville Road about 8:37 pm November 24, when a deer ran out onto the street and collided with the vehicle, police said.

Southbound motorist Michael Camarco, 22, of Brookfield, who was driving a 1997 Honda Civic sedan and who did not see the deer lying on the road, then struck the animal with the Honda, police said.

The accident occurred near the commuter parking at the intersection of Hawleyville Road and Barnabas Road. Police said there were no injuries. Police took no enforcement.

Minivan

Motorist John Hickey, 49, of 41 Brushy Hill Road, who was driving a 1999 Chevrolet Venture minivan northward on Elm Drive about 6:14 pm November 26, failed to stop at the stop sign at Elm Drive’s intersection with Sugar Street, traveled across Sugar Street and then struck a guard post along its westbound shoulder, police said.

Hickey was not injured. Police said Hickey told them that a dog inside the minivan had distracted him, resulting in the collision. Police issued Hickey a written warning for failure to obey a stop sign.

Hyundai Vs BMW

About 5:21 pm on November 18, motorist George Geanuracos, 45, of 96 Huntingtown Road, who was driving a 1998 BMW Z-328 convertible northward near 40 South Main Street, stopped for traffic conditions and was struck from behind by northbound motorist Elizabeth Jean Magner, 28, of Brookfield, who was driving a 2004 Hyundai Elantra sedan, police said.

There were no injuries. Police said they verbally warned Magner for following too closely.

Parking Lot

Police report that on the afternoon of November 16, motorist Sarah Smith, 16, of 11 Bonnie Brae Drive was driving a 1996 Land Rover Ranger SUV in the parking lot at Newtown Shopping Village at 6 Queen Street when she struck a correctly parked unoccupied 2001 Dodge Neon. There were no injuries. Police took no enforcement.

 

Boulevard Collision

Motorist Kevin McMahon, 20, of Bethel was driving a 2007 Subaru Impreza southward on The Boulevard, near Hall Lane, at about 1:20 am on November 29, when he approached the intersection of the two streets, entered the northbound lane and then went off the northbound road shoulder, striking a road sign and a tree, police said.

McMahon was not injured. McMahon said that in attempting to avoid colliding with a deer, he lost control of the vehicle, according to police. Police issued him a written warning for failure to drive to the right.

Deer Incident

Police report that motorist Jose Cardoso, 38, of Bridgeport, who was driving an unspecified state vehicle owned by the state Department of Administrative Services southward on South Main Street near its intersection with Mile Hill Road at about 6:09 pm November 18, encountered a deer that had run out onto the street. The deer and the vehicle collided. There were no injuries. Police took no enforcement.

Three Vehicles

Police report a three-vehicle accident at the intersection of Mile Hill Road, Queen Street, and Tinkerfield Road about 10:23 am November 28.

Motorist Albert Miles III, 17, of 32 Greenleaf Farms Road, who was driving a 2003 Jeep Grand Cherokee SUV, stopped and waiting at a stop sign on Queen Street, police said.

At that time, motorist Lisa Piastuch-Temmen, 36, of 140-B Huntingtown Road was driving a 2005 Audi A-4 sedan westward on Mile Road, and motorist Daniel Garcia, 43, of 25 Hoseye Coach Road was driving a 1992 Chevrolet pickup truck eastward on Mile Hill Road, police said.

The Jeep then pulled out into the intersection and collided with the Audi, after which the Audi collided with the Chevrolet, police said.

Hook & Ladder firefighters responded to the accident scene. Ambulance volunteers transported Piastuch-Temmen to Danbury Hospital for treatment of injuries, police said.

The accident caused a road closure in the area for about 30 minutes. Police issued Miles an infraction for a stop sign violation.

 

Warrants

State police report that they located Julian Balderas, 47, of Waterbury near Exit 11 of Interstate 84 about 3:10 pm November 28, after which they arrested him on a warrant listing a charge of violation of probation.

Also, state police said they arrested Balderas on a second warrant listing a charge of failure to appear in court in connection with motor vehicle charges.

State police held Balderas on $77,500 bail for a November 30 arraignment in Waterbury Superior Court.

Balderas was being held on December 1 on $26,000 bail in the New Haven Correctional Center for a January 8 court appearance.

 

Evading Responsibility

Police are investigating an incident in which a motorist, who was driving what appeared to be a dark blue station wagon, which was possibly a Subaru, pulled out of the driveway at 30 Church Hill Road and then struck a 2008 Volvo XC-70 station wagon that was being driven by a local man on Church Hill Road. The dark blue vehicle then drove away from the area, said police, who were unable to find that vehicle.

The collision occurred about 4:30 pm November 25. There were no injuries. Police ask anyone with information on the accident to contact them at 203-426-5841.

 

Congested Area

Police report a two-vehicle accident in a congested area on Church Hill Road about 4:30 pm November 24.

Motorist Robert Leech, 65, of Herndon, Va., was driving a 2005 Cadillac SRX westward on Church Hill Road, as motorist Keri Lowden, 26, of Naugatuck was driving a 2004 Chevrolet Trailblazer eastward there, according to police.

The Cadillac then started to make a left turn to enter the driveway at 62 Church Hill Road but collided with the Chevrolet, police said. There were no injuries. Police issued Leech an infraction for failure to grant the right of way.

Sandy Hook Collision

A two-vehicle accident occurred on Berkshire Road, near its intersection with Toddy Hill Road, about 4:23 pm November 30, police said.

Eastbound motorist Frank Rovello, 63, of Danbury, who was driving a 2009 Chevrolet Cobalt sedan, stopped for traffic conditions, after which the Chevrolet was struck from behind by eastbound motorist Melissa Mackey, 30, of Derby, who was driving a 2000 Chevrolet Blazer SUV, police said.

Rovello reported neck soreness and ambulance volunteers responded to the scene, police said. Sandy Hook firefighters also responded.

Police said they issued Mackey violations for following too closely, driving with a suspended license, and failure to return a suspended license to the state Department of Motor Vehicles. Police released her on $100 bail for a December 15 court appearance.

Counterfeit Bills

Police said they went to Hot Shots Grille, Restaurant & Tap Room at 130 Mt Pleasant Road about 10:12 pm November 28, after learning of a counterfeit currency incident at the bar.

Police said that after an investigation there, they determined that John Lipusz, Jr, 41, of 11 Wildcat Road had used a counterfeit $100 bill to pay for an entry cover charge at the bar and also attempted to use another counterfeit $100 bill to pay for some drinks.

Police said they charged Lipusz with first-degree forgery, after which they released him on $500 bail for a December 15 appearance in Danbury Superior Court.

Fight

Police report they observed Kevin Quinn, 32, of Southbury involved in a fight with another person in front of the Dunkin’ Donuts store at Newtown Shopping Village at 6 Queen Street about 1:13 pm December 1.

Police investigated and charged Quinn with disorderly conduct, after which they released him on $2,500 bail for a December 15 court appearance.

Motorcycle Incident

A motorcycle and a 1999 Nissan Maxima sedan collided near 13 Hawleyville Road about 5:15 pm November 28, police report.

Police said a motorist was driving the Nissan southward, when the front end of the southbound motorcycle collided with the rear end of the Nissan.

After the collision, the motorcycle fell to the ground, police said. The unknown motorcyclist then picked up the fallen motorcycle, got on it and drove away, police said.

The two people who were in the Nissan were not injured, police said.

Police described the motorcyclist as a white man over six feet tall and weighing more than 200 pounds who was wearing a flag-style bandanna. The motorcycle was described as a heavily chromed Harley-Davidson with a loud exhaust system.

Police ask anyone with information on the identity of the motorcyclist to contact Officer Richard Monckton at the police station at 203-426-5841.

SUV Vs Deer

Motorist Patrick Moriarty, 59, of New Milford was driving a 2001 Chevrolet Tahoe SUV southward near 188 South Main Street about 6:23 am December 1, when a deer ran onto the road and collided with the vehicle, police said. Moriarty was not injured. Police took no enforcement.
