Garner Inmate Arrested On Assault Charges

State police report they charged a Garner Correctional Institution inmate on November 24 on a warrant listing two counts of a first-degree assault on a state Department of Correction (DOC) employee, in connection with an October 1 incident at the high-security prison at 50 Nunnawauk Road.

State police arrested Ruben C. Thuillard, 33, on the charges, which stem from Thuillard allegedly assaulting two male DOC workers, one of whom was 35 and the other who was 41 years old.

Thuillard was arraigned on the charges in Danbury Superior Court on November 24 and is scheduled to appear in court again on December 8. The charges are Class B felonies.

Thuillard is being at held Garner where he is serving a 48-year sentence on convictions for murder and for risk of injury to a minor, according to the DOC.

In another incident at Garner, state police on the afternoon of November 27 arrested Garner inmate Jonathan Cabrera, 20, on a charge of assault on public safety personnel after he allegedly spat into the face of a 54-year-old male correction officer there.

Cabrera was arraigned on the assault charge on November 30 in Danbury Superior Court. Cabrera was being held in Garner on December 1 for a December 14 court appearance.

Cabrera is incarcerated at Garner on a pending burglary charge, according to the DOC.

Also, state police report they are investigating a case in which an unnamed Garner inmate allegedly mailed a threatening letter to people living at a New Britain residence.
