Newtown residents are invited to visit and take pictures with Santa December 15 between 10 am and 2 pm at LeReine’s Cuisine, 31 Peck’s Lane. Owner LeReine Frampton decided to host the event, during which parents and caregivers take their own photos with Santa, as a fundraiser for the Newtown Hook & Ladder Building Fund.

“We’ll have it set up so people can take their own pictures of Santa with whomever they want If they want, they can upload to someplace on the Internet to get whatever copies they want or even turn them into Christmas cards,” Ms Frampton said in a release.

There is no cost to visit with Santa or take pictures, but Ms Frampton is hopeful that those attending will donate to Newtown Hook & Ladder Building Fund.

Attendees are also welcome to purchase breakfast, lunch, drinks, snacks, or baked goods that will be prepared for or cooked to order that day.

Ms Frampton noted that Newtown Hook & Ladder’s building was partially condemned well over a decade ago, and volunteers have been trying to find property so they can build a new firehouse that will efficiently service their fire district.

Trinity Church just voted to sell Hook & Ladder part of the church property on Church Hill Road for the new headquarters.

But Ms Frampton pointed out that the volunteers now have to finance the purchase of the property and the building, which will cost significantly more than the $1.5 million set aside for the project in Newtown’s Capital Improvement Plan.

“This is a very large commitment being made by the same friends and neighbors that have been volunteering to keep our property safe for years,” Ms Frampton said, “so bring your camera and spend some time with your friends and neighbors and Santa.”

The public restaurant and catering establishment is located in the former cafeteria area at Tier One, adjacent to the Newtown base for All-Star Transportation, and is open weekdays 5:30 am to 4 pm, and Saturdays from 9 am to 1 pm.
