NHS Art Portfolios At Booth Library

Art Portfolio is an intensive and individualized art program for college bound seniors at Newtown High School. During the course of one school year, students produce a comprehensive portfolio of artwork that is targeted for college admission and/or a related field. Guest speakers and visiting representatives also introduce students to college and career choices.

In addition to ongoing projects in the studio, students are also expected to work outside of school to complete required assignments.

Sketchbooks are required as well as participation in a public art display within a community. C.H. Booth Library will host one such display beginning later this month.

On Thursday, December 11, an exhibition of work by this year’s students of NHS art instructor Diane Dutchick.

Seniors in Art Portfolio this year are Samantha Bucur, Jensine Eckwall, Chelsea Fay, Rachel Fossum, Christina Hartlett, Emily Korth, Emily Leidlein, Andrew Mangold, Patrick McGrath, Taylor Niwa, Hannah Pieragostini, Nicholas Pieretti and Olivia Provey.

An opening reception is planned for Sunday, December 14, from 2 to 4 pm. The collection will remain on view until December 20 and can be visited any time the library is open.
