Welcome Back, Joe

To the Editor:

Surprise! Joe Lieberman is once again all over TV screens. Lately, he has been on TV more than that “Shamwow” guy or “Billy Mays” trying to sell us a bill of goods and repair his career! It’s as if he became a free agent and signed with the Blue Team after spending time as a Red Team member after he was cut by the Blue Team. Confusing? Not for Good Ole Joe! Look for this chameleon to “switch teams” again in 2012 if Connecticut voters reject him. The Red Team would have Joe the chameleon reunited with Plumber and Six-Pack. Lieberman knows how to stay in the spotlight and get on the political page six. He just changes his colors to survive when he is in danger from his predator voters.

Many have devoted time in the field running for national office or serving as the key wingman for a presidential candidate. Not too many have done it for the greater part of a decade. It is time-consuming and grueling. It removes office holders from their office and their constituents for major periods of time. But it is also self-promotional.

Enter Joe Lieberman. He has devoted a substantial amount of his time in office as a Senator from Connecticut over the past decade not taking care of the business of the his constituents. In 2000, Lieberman was the Democratic VP candidate, and lost; in 2004 Lieberman was a Presidential candidate, and lost; in 2008 Lieberman was the wingman, constantly on the road and in front of cameras, for McCain/Palin, and they lost. But he just keeps running and running and running. He is an ardent supporter of the wars still in progress and still resulting in American deaths and life-long injuries, and of the failed economic policies of the Republican Party which minimized governmental regulations and, as a result, has us teetering on the edge of a total economic meltdown.

So, welcome back, Joe! Welcome back to the state you have represented in absentia. Welcome back to the state which gave the Obama/Biden ticket 61 percent of the vote. You didn’t have much success pulling in Connecticut votes for McCain/Palin. But, then again, the people around the state haven’t seen much of you over the past few years. Let’s see some real efforts on your part to ease the financial burdens in Connecticut and end the sacrifice of United States blood and treasure in the Middle East. You are behind schedule in these regards due to you gallivanting around the country trying to sabotage the Democratic Party. Get to work, Joe! If you start traveling through the state to repair your image, make sure you have a GPS so you don’t get lost in the, for you, unfamiliar territory of Connecticut. Oh, and try to get to Newtown at sometime other than for the Labor Day Parade in the year you are running for office. You can take I-84 to Exit 10, and then…

Regards,

Richard English
