A Forgotten Part Of Newtown?

(The following letter to First Selectman Herb Rosenthal has been received for publication)

Mr Rosenthal,

I am  writing in response to the article in the November 26, 1999 issue of The Newtown Bee, regarding the sale of the Bridgeport Hydraulic Company.

You stated that, “None of Newtown’s water supply comes from BHC so any rate changes would not apply.” Just to let you know that there is a small section of Pastors Walk, which runs from Monroe off Route 25 to Guinea Road in Monroe, that goes through Newtown with 10 homes on it, also Bayberry Drive, which is off Pastors Walk in Newtown, receive their water supply from BHC. We certainly are concerned with rate increases that might occur due to any sale. Our rates are high enough.

The homes on this section of Pastors Walk also have their electricity hooked into Monroe and receive our natural gas through Monroe.

I think the town officials should look at a map to see just where their town lines are and where those living there receive their services from before making statements.
