A Prayer For Children

To the Editor,

I wrote this last night and feel it sums up in a few words a partial description of the problem and possible solution for the disease that is plaguing the youth in our nation today.

It is a prayer for our children for Christmas and New Year.

Last night, in the night,

I found myself suddenly awake

Staring directly into the face of the Collective Fear

That has us so tightly in its grasp

That even our children

Are killing themselves and each other to escape it.

And I prayed –

This Christmas and especially this New Year

Let us gather our strength collectively,

Tear away that grip from our guts

And the throats of our children,

And replace it with clarity and peace of mind,

Fullness of heart and tranquility of soul

To restore us, even for a moment,

Long enough to heal our children,

Into a State of Grace.
