Manuel Moniz

Manuel Moniz, 87, of 74 Queen Street, Newtown, died on December 4 at his home.  He was the husband of Lena (Frias) Moniz.

Born in Azores, Portugal, January 22, 1912, he was a son of the late Augostinho and Filomena Moniz. Mr Moniz was educated in Portugal.

In Azores, Portugal, Mr Montz worked as an engineer for Radio Marconi for 33 years. He immigrated to the United States in 1960 and was employed by the Amphenol Corp in Danbury until his retirement.

Mr Moniz was a member of St Rose Church, Newtown.

 In addition to his wife, he is survived by a son, Robert Moniz of Southbury; a daughter, Louise Neves of Danbury; and four grandchildren, Neil Amaral, Jennifer Pope, Christopher Neves and Jessica Moniz. Mr Moniz was predeceased by his daughter, Helen Amaral, in 1988.

A Mass of Christian Burial was celebrated at St Rose Church, Newtown, on December 7. Burial followed in St Rose Cemetery, Newtown.

The Green Funeral Home, 57 Main Street, Danbury, was in charge of arrangements.
