Loretta A. Sharpe

Loretta A. Sharpe, 73, of Oxford, died peacefully December 8 at Griffin Hospital, Derby. Born in Bridgeport, September 25, 1940, she was the daughter of the late Asher and Margaret Whalen Sharpe. 

She is survived by her devoted brothers Robert J. Sharpe, and his wife Lesley, of Newtown and John M. Sharpe, Sr, and his wife Judith, of Milford; and a sister-in-law, Martha Sharpe of Milford. Ms Sharpe was predeceased by a brother, Ralph D. Sharpe, and a nephew and godson, John M. Sharpe, Jr. 

Ms Sharpe was a graduate of Bassick High School, a longtime resident of Beacon Falls and Oxford, and worked as a bookkeeper for the Kurt Lee Products Co. of Oxford formore than 23 years, retiring in 2006. 

She was a communicant of St Thomas the Apostle Church, a member of the Oxford Senior Center, and a volunteer for the Seymour-Oxford Food Bank. Ms Sharpe enjoyed her family, friends, and being with her special nieces, nephews, and great-nieces and nephews.

Funeral services are scheduled for Friday, December 13, at 9 am, from the Wakelee Memorial Funeral Home, 167 Wakelee Avenue, Ansonia. A Mass of Christian Burial is scheduled at 10 am in St Thomas the Apostle Church, 733 Oxford Road, Oxford. Interment will follow in Mt St Peter Cemetery, Derby. Family and friends may call on Thursday, December 12, from 4 to 7 pm.
