William C. Ebert

William C. Ebert, age 89, of Newtown, devoted husband and father, loving grandfather and great-grandfather, passed away on December 8. He was the husband of Barbara C. (Dorsey) Ebert, with whom he celebrated 66 years of marriage on April 24, 2020.

Bill was born in Bay Ridge, Brooklyn, New York, on March 5, 1931. He was the son of the late William F. and Gesina (Sanders) Ebert of Oakland, New Jersey, and was predeceased by a brother, Ralph, of Florida. Bill was a 1949 graduate of Pompton Lakes High School, Pompton Lakes, New Jersey, and served in the United States Marine Corps, Second Marine Division, from 1951 to 1954.

In addition to his wife, Barbara, he is survived by three sons, William T. and his wife, Kimberly, of Newtown, Thomas J. and his wife, Toni Ann, of Gaithersburg, Maryland, and Robert R. and his wife, Carole, of Virginia Beach, Virginia. His nine grandchildren adored him, Lauren, Kathryn, Alexandra, Ryan, Thomas, Jenna, Jessica, Jack, and Carleigh Grace, as well as his two great-grandsons, Jackson and Jacob.

For over 30 years, Bill lived in Oakland, New Jersey, where he volunteered on the Oakland Volunteer Fire Department Scuba Team, and was the Chief Fire Inspector. Bill retired from the Ford Motor Company in Mahwah, New Jersey, before moving to the Poconos in 1988. There he belonged to the Marine Corps League of Stroudsburg, Penn., where he served as Commandant for two terms. He was also a charter member of the Knights of Columbus Chapter #12447 of Canadensis, Penn. Bill was a member of the Most Holy Trinity Parish in Cresco, Penn.

A memorial service in Bill’s honor will be held at Maplewood at Newtown. Burial is private.
