Holiday Closings & Deadlines: Christmas & New Year

The next two issues of The Newtown Bee will be printed and mailed on their regular schedule, despite the Christmas and New Year’s holidays. There are no special deadlines around these holidays.

The newspaper office will be closed Mondays, December 25 and January 1. It will reopen at 8 am on Tuesdays, December 26 and January 2.

Advertisers and Editorial contributors are reminded that all regular Tuesday deadlines will be in effect each week.

Holiday Closings, Other Schedule Changes

Town offices and agencies will close at noon Friday, December 22, and remain closed until 8 am Tuesday, December 26, for the Christmas holiday weekend.

The transfer station at the former landfill on Ethan Allen Road will close at 11 am Saturdays, December 23 and 30.

Newtown Community Center will close at noon December 24, and remain closed December 25. There are no swim lessons and no Health & Wellness classes December 23-25.

The following week, the center will close at 2 pm New Year’s Eve (no classes December 30-31), and then remain closed on January 1.

Water aerobics will take a holiday break December 26-January 1.

C.H. Booth Library will be closed for Christmas Sunday through Tuesday, December 24-26. It will reopen Wednesday, December 27, at 9:30 am. The following week the library will be closed Sunday through Tuesday, December 31-January 2, for the New Year’s holiday. It will reopen Wednesday, January 3, at 9:30 am.

Edmond Town Hall will not be screening movies on December 24-25. Screenings of Paw Patrol: The Mighty Movie will begin Tuesday, December 26.

Newtown’s public schools will have early dismissal on Friday, December 22, and then be closed through Monday, January 1. Classes will resume Tuesday, January 2.

In addition, there will be no regular mail delivery on December 25 or January 1; both are United States Postal Service holidays.

Connecticut Department of Motor Vehicles offices continue to operate by appointment only. Many services are being completed online. Visit portal.ct.gov/DMV for details.

Most entities will have early or full closings due to the approaching Christmas and New Year holidays.
