Who is Chris LaRocque?
I see the bumper stickers on the some of the cars around town, have heard people speak of his name, and Iâve seen his picture in the paper a few times, but who is Chris LaRocque?
Chris LaRocque is someone Iâm proud to call my friend. Heâs someone that has worked hard for the taxpayers in this town as a Legislative councilman, has fought to keep property taxes low, and has a wealth of experience in the business world.
Iâve read many of the letters to the editor about Mr LaRocqueâs incumbent opponent, Chris Lyddy, who I have also known for many years. Chris Lyddy is a nice guy and a friend, but the people should elect a leader who is going to get the job done, not just someone who is nice to talk to.
When it comes to getting the job done, Chris Lyddy has not kept his promises. He has consistently voted to spend more money in each subsequent budget and budget adjustment over the past two years. In one of his last votes on the biannual budget, when over 20 Democrats voted against their party because the spending was just too high, Chris Lyddy still refused to back away from the party line.
We voted for Mr Lyddy with the hope of something different, the hope that he would be smart with our tax dollars. Instead, he has simply spent above our means.
We have a chance to âfixâ the mistake we made two years ago. I urge you to get to know Chris LaRocque in the coming months. Check out his website, give him a call, and donât be surprised if you see him knocking on your door one of these weekends. He wants to fight for the issues that are important to you. Above all else, he wants to say ânoâ when so many folks are saying âyesâ to more spending.
Respectfully,
Kevin Whipkey, Jr
