Food Vendors & Entertainers Sought

For Taste Of Waterbury Festival

WATERBURY — The Waterbury Region Convention and Visitors Bureau is looking for area restaurants and specialty food vendors to join them in creating a weekend community festival. In conjunction with the American Tour de Sol, the National Solar and Electric Car Championship on May 19 and 20, the food tasting festival will round out a truly unique and exciting event. The event will be held at Library Park and along upper Grand Street.

Being held for the fourth time in the region, the Tour de Sol is a road rally and testing grounds for environmentally-friendly vehicles. In previous years it has garnered local and national media coverage as well as sponsorship from major private and government organizations.

While the participants of the Tour de Sol are undergoing rigorous technical testing, the Waterbury Region Convention and Visitors Bureau will be hosting the “Taste of Waterbury Region” festival. Starting on Saturday and continuing on Sunday, everyone can sample food creations from area restaurants as well as live entertainment to compliment the festive atmosphere.

Tying into a theme of “Past, Present and Future,” antique cars will be on display next to the cars of the future to highlight the evolution of automobile transportation. Fun activities for children are als planned. The weekend, a great community event, will be open at no charge to the public.

Along with the food vendors, entertainers are also being sought. Whether an individual, group, quartet or duo, all types are needed. The focus is on finding entertainment that will compliment the flavor of the participating restaurants and offer variety to the attendees.

For further information, call the Waterbury Region Convention and Visitors Bureau at 203-597-9527 or toll free at 888-588-7880. Interested vendors and entertainers can also visit www.waterburyregion.com for information.
