Handel Tradition Returns

To Danbury

DANBURY — The Danbury Music Centre will present its annual performance of Messiah, an oratorio by George Frederick Handel, this weekend. This masterwork will be sung by the 100-voice Danbury Concert Chorus and accompanied by the Danbury Chamber Orchestra, with James E. Humphreville as the director.

The Danbury Music Centre performance of the Handel oratorio has been a holiday tradition in Danbury since 1966.

This year’s performance will take place on Sunday, December 19, at 7:30 pm, at St Peter Church on Main Street. Soloists are Alexandra Whyte Orton, lyric mezzo soprano; Gary Harger, tenor; Alan Seale, baritone; and Evelyn Thatcher, soprano.

Admission is free; donations at the door will be welcomed. For further information call Danbury Music Centre at 748-1716.

The popular performance attracts an overflow audience, so doors will open at 6:30 pm. Early arrival is suggested.
