Newtown Exxon took over sole possession of first place in the Newtown Weeknite Slo-Pitch Softball League with a recent two-game sweep of My Place Pizza. Prior to games this week, Exxon was 7-1 while My Place was 5-2.

In a 12-8 win, Rick Kasbarian belted a pair of home runs and Dave Samoskevich banged out two hits to lead Exxon while M. Aiken collected a pair of hits and scored two runs to power My Place.

And in a explosive 26-25 win, Samoskevich was 4-for-5 with a homer and Dave Amaral was 4-for-5 to lift Exxon to the win. R. Moravsky had a four-hit effort for My Place, including a pair of home runs.

Here are results of other recent games –

Russ and Marc Adams banged out two hits apiece to lead Exxon to a 14-1 win over Fireside, which got a home run from Brian Slattery. Meanwhile, R. Chirella and Carlos Diaz combined to score seven runs as My Place hammered Americam 23-4.

Crosshill defeated Americam 13-7 while Fireside slipped past the BlindsGuys, 21-19, as D. Demore and B. Fulton banged out three hits apiece while combining to score six runs. Tim and Dan had three hits and one homer apiece for the ‘Guys.

Larry Miller collected four hits and scored three runs while Brian Maciolek collected three hits and scored two runs to lead SMC to an 8-7 win over 100 Church Hill, which got a three-hit effort from B. Davenport. Meanwhile, D. Cassidy collected three hits, but Kelloggs dropped a 12-7 decision to Americam.

Americam defeated Fireside, 11-6, as Jim and Chris collected two hits apiece and SMC defeated Exxon, 11-8, as Maciolek homered and D. Marcinek banged out four hits. Marc Adams had three hits for Exxon in that one.

And Chris Dennis and Bryan Kachur collected four hits apiece as Kelloggs clobbered SMC, 20-1.

Newtown Women

Lori Dale went 4-for-4 with a double while Lisa Pollock, Chris Liberante and Sue Ormsbee had three hits apiece to lead Beeline Woodworking to a recent 8-4 win over the Special K’s in Newtown Women’s Slo-Pitch Softball League action.

The win was Beeline’s second against no defeats.

Beeline followed up with an 8-2 win over Chartwells as Pollock had a strong defensive game at short and Missy Jones went 3-for-3 with a pair of singles and a double at the plate.
