To Oz And Home Again

To the Editor:

This past weekend, Newtown Middle School presented two performances of The Wizard of Oz to packed houses. Special kudos and thanks need to be extended to the hundreds of people who made this musical production so successful.

Despite having to change the performance from NMS to Reed Intermediate only three weeks prior to the performance due to the necessary closure of our middle school auditorium, the standing ovations indicated the appreciation of the audience for this outstanding production. First, teachers Susan Lang, Jennifer Sinal, and Stephanie Glynn were the talented, positive directors whose phenomenal leadership enabled this production to take the stage Saturday. Over 100 cast and crew transported us to Oz and home again through exceptional song, dance, and acting. And then — how about those parents! Kudos for costumes, scenery, sound, lighting, refreshments, and overall general support to those wonderful moms and dads! Each individual involved in this production accepted the difficult challenge and scored a grand slam home run! My warmest thanks for all the hard work and dedication that enabled our seventh and eighth graders to have such an unforgettable experience.
