Lions Begin Planning For 2007 Duck Race

Members of the Newtown Lions Club met recently to plan the Seventh Annual Great Pootatuck Duck Race. The event will occur from 10 am to 2 pm on Saturday, May 26, at the spacious lot of Mike Porco on Glen Road.

Event planners guarantee a day of enjoyment for Newtown families. There will be plenty of things to do at the Duck Race. Magicians and face painters will work the crowd. Community groups will hawk their wares or simply present information about their organization. Musicians will grace the ample stage and a DJ will announce events and keep the music spinning. The moon bounce and other such amusements are sure to please.

At precisely 1 pm, Mr Porco’s payloader will dump all the rubber ducks into the Pootatuck River. Bystanders will have fun cheering on the ducks as they race down to the finish line. The first 25 of the little rubber ducks that cross the finish will win prizes.

For more information call Matt DeAngelis at 270-9019. Any volunteer groups desiring to set up a booth should call Gordon Williams at 426-6443.
