most heat, and white absorbs the least heat.

Doug Bonjour (left), Russell Cinicolo and Adam Konneker created an "amazing
electric pen" that could write on steel.
Kelley Haines (left), Becky Corrigan and Katie Hydock used Petri dishes to
discover which mouth produced the most bacteria: a cat, dog or human. The
dog's mouth produced the most bacteria and the human's mouth produced the
least.

The second floor of Hawley school was buzzing with scientific activity last
week, as fifth grade students in Mr Bird's and Mrs Cunningham's science
classes applied the scientific method to a number of original and creative
experiments they had devised.
Mr Wilkinson's students would be doing their experiments during the following
week.
Working in pairs or on teams of three or more, the students formulated
scientific projects and then designed their own experiments to carry out and
illustrate those projects.
Each experiment began with a question.
Then a hypothesis was stated and a procedure for experimentation was mapped
out.
A list of materials used was included, followed by a summary of facts learned
during the observation stage of the experiment.
Finally, a conclusion was reached.
