Mildred A. Smolley

Longtime Ansonia Resident

Mildred A. Smolley, 87, of Newtown, died March 1 at Danbury Hospital. She was a resident of Ansonia until last year. Born in Ansonia on January 20, 1920, she was a daughter of Theodore and Johanna Pototeka Smolley.

She is survived by three brothers, Peter Smolley, Andrew Smolley, and Stephen Smolley and his wife, Angelina, all of Newtown; one sister, Mrs Charles (Rose) Matuszewski of Southbury; and several nieces and nephews. Ms Smolley was predeceased by two sisters, Pauline Culmo and Mary Matuszewski; and one brother, John Smolley.

Ms Smolley was a former communicant of the Church of the Assumption and presently a communicant of St Rose of Lima Church in Newtown.

Funeral services were held March 6 from the Bennett Funeral Home, Ansonia, followed by a Mass of Christian Burial in the Church of the Assumption. Burial will be in the spring at St Peter and St Paul Cemetery.
