Seeking Newtown’s Business Of The Year

The Newtown Chamber of Commerce and Newtown Rotary Club will co-host the Third Annual Business of the Year Awards on Monday, March 6. The ceremony will be held at The Fireside Inn from 5:30 to 7:30.

This recognition program acknowledges those companies that make considerable contributions to the Newtown community. Nominations are being accepted through January 31. Nomination forms can be found on the Chamber of Commerce website at www.newtown-ct.com.

Applications are reviewed by the awards committee made up of Chamber President Pat Linnell of Linnell Real Estate, Frank Gavel of Raymond James Financial Services, Brian Amey of Newtown Savings Bank, and Alan Clavette of Clavette Joselyn & Co.

Two companies will be honored at the formal awards ceremony on March 6. In addition to receiving a suitable trophy, award recipients will be invited to make a donation to a charity or organization of their choice, which will be matched by Newtown Rotary Club.

Last year’s Business of the Year Award winners were Drug Center for its outstanding support of more than 25 organizations and causes, and Curtis Packaging for its exceptional support of many of the organizations in and out of town.

Reservations can be made by contacting the Chamber office at 426-2695.  Tickets are $20 per person and include dinner.

The Chamber of Commerce of Newtown, Inc is dedicated to the promotion and encouragement of Newtown’s business community. It actively supports the expansion of business opportunities on behalf of its members through marketing, networking programs, community-sponsored events, and involvement in local economic development.
