Botsford Firemen Elect Officers
Jay Nesvesky was reelected to serve a second term as president at the annual
meeting and elections of the United Fire Company of Botsford.
Other officers include Mark Ouelette, vice president; Gordon Thompson,
secretary, reelected for an eighth term; Kurt Schramek, treasurer; Stephen
Belair, financial treasurer, reelected for a fifth term; and Ray Delmore,
trustee.
Stephen Belair was reelected fire chief for an 18th term. Other officers
include Pete Stone, first assistant chief, second term; Rich Brady, second
assistant chief, second term; Rich Prasauckas, chief engineer; Jay Nesvesky,
first assistant engineer; Eric Denzel, second assistant engineer; Rich Brady,
quartermaster, second term; and Russ Picerno, steward.
The company responded to 191 calls between June 1, 1996, and May 31, 1997.
There were 12 structure fires, four car fires, six brush fires, 12 calls to
assist Newtown Volunteer Ambulance, one extrication, two spill/leaks, 16 calls
for wires down, 1 electrical problem, 20 hazardous condition calls, eight
water pumping, two unauthorized burnings, 20 smoke/odor calls, ten mutual aid
calls and ten miscellaneous calls.
The company responded to 44 calls involving fire alarm malfunctions and 23
cases of accidental fire alarms.
