Honored Girl Scouts
With altar adorned with white and yellow daises in honor of its special guests, Newtown United Methodist Church celebrated âGirl Scout Sundayâ on March 7.
Newtownâs local Girl Scout troops and their leaders, all dressed in full uniform, were greeted warmly as they entered the church for the 10 am service.
Girl Scout Felicia Cavanah served as an acolyte, and fellow Scout Sarah Beier read scripture for congregation.
The service was unique. Congregants sang special Girl Scout songs while Rev Terry Pfeifer, pastor of NUMC, presented each scout with a Girl Scout Sunday patch as a commemorative of the day.
After the service, the scouts and leaders were honored with a coffee hour hosted by Brownie Scout Troop 749 of the Girl Scout Council of Southwestern Connecticut.Â
