BowlFest 2007 Silent Auction Is Going Online
BROOKFIELD â Brookfield Craft Centerâs popular BowlFest Silent Auction is âbigger and better for 2007â according to Kristin Muller, education director at the national profile non-profit school and gallery for fine craftsmanship. Ms Muller is coordinator of the popular fundraising event.
The auction will be open for bidding on-site and online starting on Sunday, May 13, and continuing through Sunday, June 3, the day of BowlFest 2007. Fifty-plus fine handcrafted items will go to the highest bidder as of 3 pm that day.
This year for the first time bids may be placed online at the centerâs website, BrookfieldCraftCenter.org, as well as on-site at the colonial vintage campus on Route 25 in Brookfield. Visitors to the center may peruse the auction items which are artfully displayed in the Lynn Tendler Bignell Exhibition Gallery. Hours are Monday through Saturday, 10 am to 4 pm; and Sunday, noon to 5 pm.
According to Executive Director John I. Russell, âWe have been expanding the silent auction portion of our festive fundraiser for the past six years. Now for the first time bids can be placed online which enables fine craft lovers from around the globe as well as around the corner to bid on the wonderful handmade artwork donated by our many artist supporters. Also this year we are extending the silent auction to run for a full three weeks.â
The popular family and friends oriented event will take place on Sunday, June 3, from 1 to 4 pm. It features fine food and drink and live music this year by Jive-By-Five, a local jazz band headed by the noted artist Robert Andrew Parker of Cornwall.
In addition to final bidding at the silent auction attendees may also choose from hundreds of handmade ceramic, glass and wooden bowls to take home. The bowls have been made by more than forty
artist friends of the Center.
BowlFest 2007 donations are $50 per person. Proceeds support the centerâs education and exhibition programs and their campus renovation campaign.
