US Department of Agriculture’s Food Safety and Inspection Service announced the recall Wednesday. State food inspectors are now conducting recall effectiveness checks in stores that are known to have carried these products. To date, Shaw’s and Price Chopper stores have confirmed that they sold some of these products.

The product is also believed to have been carried in smaller independent stores.

“We are out in the stores making sure these items have been removed from sale, but since any of these products could already be in consumers’ refrigerators and freezers, it’s important that people review the list carefully,” Consumer Protection Commissioner Jerry Farrell, Jr, said. “Consumers should return these products to the store for a refund.  I also encourage food service establishments to check their inventories for these potentially hazardous items, and return them to their supplier.”

Anyone concerned about an injury from consumption of the products should consult a medical professional.

Consumers with questions about the recall should contact Nestle’s Consumer Services Center at 800-993-8625.
