You may drop in at the Senior Center weekdays between 9 am and 4 pm. A hot meal is served at noon, for which you must reserve three days in advance.
Newtown has daily door-to-door minibus service Monday through Friday. Buses also run all day from the Senior Center to Sand Hill Plaza. On Fridays, the bus alternates between rides to Danbury Fair Mall and Berkshire Plaza in Danbury (to Walmart Route 6). Cost is 65¢ each way for the Sand Hill Plaza trip, 75¢ each way for out of town. This Weekâs Programs
*Glucose screening will be Friday, September 16, between 9 am and noon. Fasting or at least two hours after meal or snack. Call for appointment.

*Wednesday, September 21 is Connecticut Day at The Big E country fair in West Springfield, Mass. Cost is $52; depart at 9 am.
*Bingo will be on Thursday, September 22, at 1 pm.
*On Friday, September 23, at 1:30 pm, Music from the Heart will perform a program of old favorites. Ethel Kaufman is on piano, Bucky Milan on trumpet, and Jeremy Alston on percussion.
*Donations of white elephant items, any handmade items, and yarn are needed for the upcoming Harvest Bazaar, Thursday through Sunday, October 13â16. These can be dropped off Tuesdays through Thursdays.
*The center is looking for a craft teacher for the months of November and December. If interested call the center.
*There will not be any craft classes on October 12â14 due to setting up for the bazaar.

*Annual Harvest Bazaar open house preview is Thursday, October 13, 5 to 7 pm. Regular hours are Friday and Saturday, October 14 and 15, 9 am to 4 pm; and Sunday, October 16, 9 am to noon. Come do some early holiday shopping. Included will be afghans, quilts, hats, mittens, scarves, jewelry, holiday ornaments and decorations, baked goods, and an array of other goodies.
*Flu clinics will be open on Tuesdays, October 4, 11, 18, 9 am to noon, and October 25, 9 to 11 am. No reservations are needed.
Day Trips
*On Wednesday, October 5, depart at 9 am for Platzl Brauhaus in Pomona, N.Y. Enjoy an Oktoberfest dinner, soda, beer, apple cider, plus a standing steamship roast will be carved. Feel free to dance and sing along with the German band and dancers.
*Visit the 9/11 Memorial in New York City on November 15. A family-style luncheon at the famous Italian restaurant Carmineâs is followed by a tour of the memorial. Depart at 8:45 am; cost is $74.
