Occupation: I was a computer consultant for many years and right now I am starting a business with my twin brother, who is a veterinarian, developing equipment for the veterinary office. I have also been an EMT (emergency medical technician) with Newtown Volunteer Ambulance Corps for the past seven years.
Family: My wife, Laura, my daughter Samantha and her husband, David, my son Alexander and two grandchildren, Maxwell and Henry.
Pets: We have two cats, Amelia and Orange Pippin. Orange Pippin is the biggest, fattest cat in the history of the world. And we have our English sheepdog, Winston, out back. He is made of concrete and is the only one who doesnât give us grief.
How long have you lived in Newtown? We have been here for 34 years.
What do you like to do in your free time? I teach jujitsu, which is a form of martial arts. I teach in Danbury at Zenbudokai East. Iâve practiced it for 15 years and was just recently promoted to fourth degree. I volunteer about 30 to 40 hours a week with Newtown Volunteer Ambulance Corps and Iâm a reader.
What is your favorite book? The Old Man and The Sea, by Ernest Hemingway. Itâs one of those books that would be hard to remove or add words to.
Do you have a favorite travel destination? My brother-in-law lives in St John in the Virgin Islands and that is our favorite place. It overlooks Coral Bay and we go there to do absolutely nothing. We also are part of a cooperative in Otis, Mass., and we spend time there in the summer.
What is the best thing about Newtown? The parade is probably the best thing. We live on Main Street, so itâs an event day. The best view of Newtown, though, is from the top of Castle Hill on a sunny, winter day, looking down when thereâs snow on the ground.
If you could spend a day with anyone, who would that be? Iâd like to spend a day with George W. Bush to give him a piece of my mind â but Iâm not sure I can spare it! Iâd like to give George, Sr, a little advice on childrearing, too, but itâs a little late for that.
Do you have a personal philosophy? âTo thine own self be true,â from Shakespeare.
What do you most cherish? My wife, Laura, no doubt. We could extend that to my whole family, too.
