Doing Their Part
Doing Their Part
To the Editor:
We recently returned from a trip to visit family in Hilton Head, S.C., and the Outer Banks of North Carolina. It was busier than usual there, because many people had changed their vacation plans from destinations around the Gulf shores due to the BP oil spill.
The kids were determined to do something to help the marine animals affected by this environmental tragedy, so when we returned home they set up a lemonade stand. Between regular and pink lemonade, and some homemade lemon cooler cookies, the kids made enough money, with a little matching funds from Mom and Dad to donate $95 to www.imms.org in support of taking care of the marine life affected by the Gulf oil spill.
Thank you to all of our friends, neighbors, and the sweet people that came by to get a glass or two on a hot day. The kids learned some math (pricing) and got the satisfaction of being able to do their part.
