Unresponsive To The Community
To the Editor:
It appears as if [Borough] Planning and Zoning would like the residents of Newtown to restrict normal activities such as going to a farmersâ market in the town center. I recall that at one time the town announced it wanted to encourage farming as a land use, to return the town to the way it once was.
This is not the only outrageous thing zoning prohibits. When Caraluzziâs market opened a few months ago, I asked why they had not installed racks for the shopping carts, to prevent damage to the cars in the parking lot. I was told, âthis is not permitted in the borough.â
The residents of this town should not accept this restrictive action on the part of our government. May I remind Ms St Jean and the other members that you have been asked to serve your residents. Your response to this situation shows an unwillingness to be responsive to the needs of the community.
I for one would much rather see a farmersâ market in my town center than another shopping center.
