âSnapshot in Timeâ Author Returning To Area For Book SigningsÂ
BROOKFIELD â Marilyn Whittlesey will be at the Brookfield Museum and Historical Society building located at the intersection of Routes 25 and 133 to sign copies of her latest book, A Snapshot in Time, on Saturday and Sunday, October 28-29, from 1 to 4 pm each day.
The book documents the colorful history of the Town of Brookfield and spans the time period from the 1750s to the present.
Ms Whittlesey, who retired to Blue Hill, Me., last year, was asked to prepare this book. It reflects her extensive knowledge of the townâs past as well as insights she has gained as a result of interaction with families who have lived in Brookfield most of their lives. It includes never before published photographs and rare stories that have survived over the years and are beautifully brought to life through the authorâs attention to detail. Â
Ms Whittlesey herself has a long history of service to the Brookfield community. For 17 years she was the Town Historian. She also had participated as a member of the Brookfield Museum & Historical Society for 29 years, during which time she served in many roles including President and Museum Curator.
In addition she was responsible for numerous exhibits and displays that mirrored the rich history and culture of the community. She spent many years supporting the children of the Brookfield School system with lectures on the townâs history and simulated one room schoolhouse environments too acquaint them with the educational experiences of children from past generations.
She also spoke to numerous civic, religious and community organizations about the changing historic landscape of Brookfield.
The 225-page soft covered 8½ by 11- inch book will be available for $25 a copy. Proceeds from the sale of the book will be used to support future events sponsored by Brookfield Museum and Historical Society.
